The Sense of Self Story

At Sense of Self, our work goes beyond managing challenges — it’s about understanding yourself and building a more steady, grounded way of living and working.

I’ve always had a deep curiosity about how we function — mentally, emotionally, and physically.

Like many high-functioning, highly sensitive people, I’ve experienced what it’s like to live with an overactive mind, constant internal pressure, and the tendency to over-function, overthink, and push through.

On the outside, I could keep going. But underneath, it often came at the cost of feeling steady, present, and connected.

Over time, that way of living led to stress, burnout, and overwhelm — and a deeper realisation that something needed to change.

What followed wasn’t a quick fix, but an ongoing process of understanding how the mind and body work together — and how the patterns we develop shape the way we think, feel, and respond to life.

Through both lived experience and professional training, I began exploring the intersection of neuroscience, psychology, somatic and embodiment practices, and ancient philosophies — not just to understand myself, but to find a more sustainable way of living.

A significant part of this journey has also been shaped by witnessing long-term cognitive decline within my own family — reinforcing the importance of how we care for our mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing over time.

This work became more than something I learned — it became a way of living.

Not just habits, but a lifestyle grounded in the foundations of wellbeing — how we move, nourish, rest, unwind, and support our minds in a way that is both restorative and preventative.

At the core of this is a simple idea: many of the challenges we experience aren’t random — they are patterns that have formed over time, often pulling us away from ourselves.

When we begin to understand those patterns — and learn how to support ourselves differently — everything starts to shift.
